The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to a maritime incident involving seven passengers of a distressed motorbanca that capsized while enroute from San Salvador Island to Barangay South Poblacion, Masinloc, Zambales on 12 March 2021.
According to the rescued individuals, they encountered rough seas that caused severe damages to the boat's outrigger, causing it to capsize at the vicinity waters 200 meters off Barangay South Poblacion.
The two of the seven passengers were rescued by the PCG. The remaining five passengers were jointly rescued by two transiting motorbancas.
They were reunited at the Coast Guard Sub-Station Masinloc where they received further assistance.
The distressed motorbanca was also towed to the nearest shoreline for needed repair.
