The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded to a maritime incident involving 70 passengers of distressed passenger vessel, MV Vince Gabriel III at the vicinity waters off Barangay Cambas-ac, Dapa, Surigao del Norte at around 10:30 a.m. yesterday, 17 March 2021.

MV Vince Gabriel III departed from Port of Dapa going to Surigao City Port and Ferry Terminal. While underway, it encountered engine problem due to its damaged exhaust pipe — releasing severe smoke inside the passenger vessel.

Immediately, the PCG coordinated with MBCA Sohoton Ferry to provide necessary assistance. MBCA Sohoton Ferry towed MV Vince Gabriel III back to its port of departure where all the passengers disembarked in good physical condition.
