The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has intensified search efforts for a missing On-the-Job Trainee (OJT) from Motor Vessel (M/V) Trans-Asia 20, last seen at Calapan Port, Barangay San Antonio, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, since 03 March 2025.

The missing individual has been identified as Mr. Aivan R. Montalan, 20 years old, a resident of Barangay Panggulayan, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro. He is a Tourism student at St. Mark Arts and Training Institute Inc., Barangay Camilmil, Calapan City, pursuing a maritime career.

According to the Shipboard Training Officer (STO) of M/V Trans-Asia 20, Mr. Montalan failed to report for duty during the muster at around 6:00AM on 04 March 2025 and was nowhere to be found onboard. His fellow OJTs last saw him around 8:00PM on 03 March 2025, lying on his bed after the vessel departed Batangas Port at 7:00PM. He was last observed at approximately 10:00PM while the vessel was maneuvering to dock at Calapan Port. By the following morning, he was missing during the roll call.

Upon receiving the report, the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Oriental Mindoro immediately coordinated with M/V Trans-Asia 20 to conduct inquiries with the crew and OJT students onboard. Meanwhile, Ms. Aileen Montalan, sister of the missing trainee, contacted Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Calapan, reporting that her brother had been unreachable since 3:00PM on 03 March 2025.

The family declared him missing after nearly 24 hours of no contact. The case has also been reported to the Calapan City Municipal Police Station (MPS) for the filing of an official blotter report.

As of this date, the PCG continues to intensify search operations in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, deploying teams across coastal areas, coordinating with local government units (LGUs) and other agencies, and advising fisherfolk to remain alert and report any possible sightings as investigation and search efforts remain ongoing.
