The Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) responded to a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) requested for a Chinese national onboard a Hong Kong-registered dry bulk vessel "MV Shandong Propellant" at vicinity waters off Bengo Wharf, Zamboanga City today, 14 May 2025.

The distress call was received at 12:36 PM on 13 May 2025 from Ms. Roselle Rafa, reporting that a crew member of said vessel was experiencing breathing difficulties.

CGDSWM immediately launched a MEDEVAC operation to ensure a rapid and coordinated response.

BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) was deployed as the primary response vessel. The crew member was safely evacuated and provided with initial medical care onboard. He was then transferred to a land ambulance and was brought to Brent Hospital and Colleges Inc., RT Lim Boulevard, Zamboanga City for further medical treatment.
