The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responded promptly to a maritime incident involving a barge that drifted toward the shoreline of Catanduanes due to rough sea conditions on July 18, 2025.

As mandated by President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr., the PCG continues to carry out its duty in unwavering service to the Filipino people.

According to initial reports, the barge was anchored offshore when heavy weather caused its anchor line to break, resulting in the vessel drifting uncontrollably with three crew members onboard.

Upon receiving the report, the PCG conducted an on-site assessment and no oil spill was observed.

The PCG also established communication with the barge’s patron via radio to gather additional details and confirm the safety of the crew.

Further investigation is ongoing.

The safety and well-being of the crew members are being closely monitored, and the PCG assures the public that all necessary support is being extended.
