The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has led in seizing 16.9 million pesos worth of smuggled cigarettes during a follow-up inspection at Pier 14, North Harbor, Manila, yesterday, 14 March 2025.
During the inspection, the authorities uncovered the second undeclared container with approximately 16,900 rims of smuggled cigarettes.
After verification, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) sealed the container for inventory and further investigation.

A simple wish turned into a touching reality as Commander, Coast Guard Internal Audit (CGIA) Commodore Mitzie Silva-Campo PCG finally met Baby Mitzie Kye and her parents, who traveled all the way from Bohol to Cebu for this special moment.
The connection began a year ago when Baby Mitzie’s mother, Ms. Lovely Cindy, expressed her wish in a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Facebook post. A colleague forwarded the message, setting the wheels in motion for this meaningful encounter.
“It was truly heartwarming to meet Baby Mitzie Kye and her parents in person. Their effort to travel just to see me is deeply appreciated. Moments like these remind us of the joy and fulfillment that come from inspiring others with purpose,” Commodore Mitzie Campo shared.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG was re-elected as Chairperson for another three-year term from 12 March 2025 to 11 March 2028 during the Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia (ReCAAP) Information Sharing Centre (ISC) Governing Council Meeting in Singapore on 13 March 2025.
During the Council Meeting, the Governors and official representatives of the ReCAAP ISC Contracting States unanimously supported the nomination of Admiral Gavan which include: Australia, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Kingdom of Cambodia, People’s Rebublic of China, Kingdom of Denmark, Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Singapore, Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Kingdom of Thailand, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
