The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) responds to a vessel collision in the vicinity waters of Maasim, Sarangani Province, today, 25 March 2025.
Based on the initial investigation, Philippine flagged-tugboat, M/TUG Sadong 33, and Panamanian-flagged vessel, MV Universe Kiza, collided at around 4:20AM.
Upon receiving the report, the PCG immediately deployed a search and rescue (SAR) team and three floating assets to conduct a SAR operation.

Mas patitibayin ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ang Maritime Safety sa Davao Gulf dahil sa patuloy na construction ng Samal Island-Davao Connector (SIDC) Bridge na isa sa mga big-ticket project ng pamahalaan sa Davao Region.
Sa panayam kay PCG Maritime Safety Services Commander, Vice Admiral Joseph Coyme PCG, sinabi nito na isa mga inisyatibo na ginawa ng PCG para dito ay ang pagsagawa ng Navigational Safety Forum kung saan inimbitahan nito ang mga stakeholders para malaman ang kanilang saloobin para sa ligtas na paglalayag sa Davao Gulf.
Ayon kay Vice Admiral Coyme PCG, ang isa sa rason kung bakit isinigawa ang nasabing forum ay ang pagkabangga ng isang tanker sa crane bridge ng Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC) nitong nakaraang taon.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Bureau of Immigration (BI), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and National Intelligence Coordinating Agency (NICA) conducted joint inspections onboard three foreign-manned vessels at the Manila Anchorage Area on 20 March 2024.
The said operation is in line with President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr's order to strengthen the country's maritime security and domain awareness.
