The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, presided over the donning and oath-taking ceremony of newly appointed members of the PCG Auxiliary (PCGA) at Barangay Bachawan, San Agustin, Romblon, on 16 December 2024.
Congressman Eleandro Jesus Madrona, Representative of the Lone District of Romblon and a key advocate behind the enactment of Republic Act (RA) 9993 otherwise known as PCG Law of 2009, was inducted as Auxiliary Commodore of the PCGA in the province.
His induction, along with 15 municipal mayors of Romblon and 126 committed volunteers, marks a significant collaboration between the PCG and local government units aimed at enhancing maritime safety, search and rescue capabilities, and environmental protection initiatives.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) have enhanced maritime cooperation through the conduct of the second bilateral meeting in New Delhi, India, on 09 December 2024.
This initiative was part of the ongoing cooperation framework between the PCG and ICG, specifically on improving collaboration in maritime search and rescue, maritime law enforcement, marine pollution response, and capacity building.
On behalf of PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, PCG Deputy Commandant for Administration, Rear Admiral Edgar L Ybañez PCG, and ICG Deputy Director General on Operations and Coastal Security, Inspector General Anupam Rai, presided over the discussions to intensify joint search and rescue (SAR) operations and swift responses during maritime emergencies.

Cadet Second-class Arlyn Bangsoy, from Sagada, Mountain Province, began her journey with her time as a cadet at the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy - PMMAOfficial (PMMA).
Afterwards, she applied at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) from 2021 to 2022.
Being in the Academy, she said she appreciated the people, the friendships, and community who had made an impact in her journey.
She also loved sharing the unique geography of the Philippines and how each province has its own distinct culture, accent, and dialect.
