𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Coast Guard Fleet Unmanned Vessel Group (CGFLEET-USVG), a newly activated sub-unit of the command headed by its Group Commander, Captain Lawrence A Roque PCG, recently completed training exercises on the operation and maintenance of the Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV). The training was conducted by United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) from 26-28 February 2025 aboard BRP Batangas (SARV 5605) at Headquarters Coast Guard Fleet, Pier 13, South Harbor, Port Area, Manila.
The three-day activity concluded with the Sea Practical Training at the vicinity waters of Manila Bay, today, 28 February 2025. This marks a significant milestone in the Philippine Coast Guard's push for enhanced maritime security and surveillance. This hands-on training has equipped our personnel with the necessary skills to operate and maintain USV's effectively, ensuring their optimal deployment in critical areas such as the Sulu-Celebes region.
By integrating USV technology into our operations, we are strengthening maritime domain awareness, enabling persistent surveillance, and enhancing our ability to monitor high-density maritime traffic. This initiative is a proactive step toward a more modern and capable Coast Guard, ensuring the safety and security of our waters while minimizing operational risks to our personnel.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) urges divers and dive operators to exercise heightened vigilance and adhere to strict safety protocols, particularly in areas with strong currents and active marine life.
This advisory follows a tragic diving incident confirmed by the Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog (CGDSTL) on 27 February 2025 in the waters off Pulong Bato, Brgy. San Agapito, Isla Verde, Batangas. Two foreign divers lost their lives, while two others survived the incident.
At around 3:45 PM, CGSS Isla Verde received a report from a resident of Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro, regarding missing divers from recreational boat named "D' Ocean Riders", which had departed from De Luna Diving Center, Barangay Aninuan, Puerto Galera at 9:30AM for a diving activity.

The Philippine Military Academy rendered a Testimonial Honors for Commodore Ramon Lopez PCG, Deputy Commander of the Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC) and Acting Commander of the Coast Guard Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Force (CGCBRNF) in Baguio City on 23 February 2025.
His operational assignments include serving in both junior and senior shipboard positions on Coast Guard vessels, staff roles in the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao and Central Visayas, and as Station Commander of Coast Guard Stations Surigao del Sur, Davao Oriental, Bohol, Southern Leyte, and Ormoc. He also held key positions as Superintendent of the Coast Guard School and Chief of Staff of the Coast Guard Ready Force.
His shore assignments included staff duties at the National Headquarters, where he served as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Maritime Safety Services, CG-8; Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Logistics, CG-4; and Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Human Resource Management, CG-1. Additionally, he served as Flag Secretary to the Commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard and Deputy Commandant for Administration.
