The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has held a Skipper’s Farewell Cruise Ceremony in recognition of PCG Deputy Commandant for Operations, Vice Admiral Rolando Lizor Punzalan Jr PCG at Pier 13, Port Area, Manila today, 03 December 2024.
The said activity highlights Vice Admiral Punzalan’s achievements and contributions during his tenure at sea.
Vice Admiral Punzalan, known for his leadership and dedication, addressed the attendees, reflecting on his experiences and expressing gratitude towards his colleagues.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has promoted Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) Nesthy Petecio PCG to the next higher rank of Petty Officer First Class (PO1) after winning a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 (57-kilogram boxing event).
PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan PCG, presided over the ceremony that occurred during the Monday morning colors at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, today, 02 December 2024.
"This promotion is a recognition, not only of your Olympic triumph, but also of your unwavering dedication, discipline, and excellence as a Coast Guardian. You are an inspirational to us all, embodying the values of integrity, patriotism, and professionalism – both in the service and on the world stage," Admiral Gavan expressed.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel, BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301), and Indonesia Coast Guard (BAKAMLA RI) ship, KN Singa Laut (402), successfully conducted a Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) in the vicinity waters off Manado, Indonesia, on 30 November 2024.
The capacity building activity simulated real-life scenarios which underscored a collaborative effort to enhance the preparedness and coordination of PCG and BAKAMLA RI's respective emergency response teams in conducting rescue operations.
The exercise ended with coordinated patrol within the borders of the Philippines and Indonesia, which was the first activity between the two country's coast guards after the signing of the Philippine Maritime Zones Act or Republic Act 12064 by President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr.
