The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) aided in apprehending three Filipinos and two Indonesian nationals involved in the illegal transport of wildlife in Davao Oriental on 28 November 2024.
The Municipal Police Station and Local Government Unit (LGU) of Governor Generoso also joined the arrest in violation of the Republic Act 9147, otherwise known as the Wildlife Protection Act.
The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Governor Generoso were alerted by Barangay Kagawad Ronald Matinao about a suspicious motorized banca operating off the coast of Barangay Pundaguitan.

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Admiral Ronie Gil L Gavan PCG presided over the donning and oathtaking of 19 newly promoted Master Chief Petty Officers (MCPO) at National Headquarters Philippine Coast Guard, Port Area, Manila on 27 November 2024.
Admiral Gavan PCG addressed the newly promoted MCPOs in emphasizing the pride and responsibility that come with their new ranks. He urged the newly promoted Non-Officers to translate the celebration of their achievement into further work.
“The promotion were not simply given, it was a result of hardwork. The shared goal of officers and non-officers is to serve, where no role is greater or lesser than the other,” Admiral Gavan PCG expressed.

The Coast Guard Nursing Service (CGNS) is conducting the Tactical Combat Casualty Training of Trainers at the National Headquarters, Port Area Manila Multi-Purpose Hall, from 25 to 29 November 2024.
The Chief Nurse of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Commodore Lysamyra Marie Gavan NC PCG, emphasized: "This collaboration with the U.S. Civil-Military Support Element underscores the importance of providing immediate and effective care in tactical environments. In these challenging times, this training is crucial for enhancing the professionalism and excellence of our personnel."
This training equips participants with essential skills for delivering life-saving care in high-pressure tactical situations, while also advancing the medical expertise of nurses. It further supports the Philippine Coast Guard’s mission of ensuring safety, security, and humanitarian aid.
